Project on the occasion of a workshop about redesigning the printed communication for the Itinéraires Graphiques (graphic itineraries) design festival at Lorient in France.
The goal was to design the visual identity of the Itinéraires Graphiques festival’s new season. Itinéraires Graphiques targets mainly the design community and relies on inviting and showcasing artists and designers’ work along with organizing conferences and exhibitions. The visual aspect needed to be bold and creative while reminding the festival’s DNA is a “graphic path”. The visual identity development was imagined while experimenting and playing with the shapes of the letters from the baseline. As I started to work on expressing graphic itineraries (“itinéraires graphiques”) with a diversity of visual forms, using typography was the starting point and lead me to use the shapes as a pattern in the composition. The overview is meant to resemble a labyrinth, representing a visual path. At last, vibrant colors were chosen to catch the eye and make the shapes blinking from afar, making an optical illusion created by the shapes.
