Diploma project following my research essay on the connection between enigma and graphic design.
An enigma is a riddle, a puzzle you need to solve. It usually takes an intellectual effort or interaction with the medium as you have to get involved to find the answer or to understand its meaning. Thus I worked on an editorial project meant to present my own version of designing an enigma into a book design. I used the text of a children treasure hunt story and displayed it in a layout relying on both the Cipher typeface I created especially, and interactions between text, graphic elements and papier inserts. Readers are invited to take the time to play and solve the narrative design riddles while manipulating the pages. The text was translated and modified from Hans Jürgen Press, Die Abenteuer der "Schwarzen Hand".
